2006: A Year in Beauty

sparkler.jpgHappy New Year!

The Beauty Bug has been compiling this list in Her head over the course of 2 days now. She figured that rather than sit down and do all my brainstorming in one sitting, it’d be more beneficial to really take some time to think. 2006 was an alluring, beauteous year and here’s why:

2006 was the year of the Bobbi Brown Chocolate palette, the Sephora Blockbuster palette, Chanel’s Black Satin, OPI’s Lincoln Park After Dark, various Shimmering Powders (from Clinique’s Pink Chocolates to Estee Lauders Brilliant Shimmer) – it was the year E.L.F cosmetics emerged on to the makeup scene, the year of classic, signature red lips ( we all tried our best to find that *perfect shade of red) with bold eyes lined with dramatic eyeliner on the top. 2006 also was stand-out, sexy smoky eyes, we saw the introduction of double sided mascaras with combs, lash jewelry, a trend towards flawless pale matted skin, mineral makeup galore, a change in the way we travel with our cosmetics, and 2006 was the year Sephora took us to the circus (over and over again). For skin care it was about going to the mall and getting Botox as if it was just another item on your shopping list, permanent lash extensions, the rise of endless cosmeceutical brands (a cosmetic that has or is purported to have medicinal properties) which promised us the world, edible skin care, and of course, the Beauty Bug’s favorite – The Test Tube.

2006 is also a special year for the Beauty Bug because it marks the beginning of her site. She wishes to thank all of her readers and supporters ( Joel, Mom, David) – please keep coming back – there’s lots to come in 2007. The Beauty Bug also wants to especially thanks all her fellow beauty bloggers who have welcomed her to the beauty blogging community with open arms -Erika from The Makeup Bag, Renee from Blog for Beauty, Lydia from Kiss and Makeup, and Shannon from Makeup Minute.

From the Beauty Bug, to my Mom – The Beauty Queen, to all my other fellow beauty Princesses out there. Here’s to a happy, healthy, beautiful New Year!
