Six Degrees of Separation with The Beauty Bug and Donatella Versace

In Allure’s February issue (Luxury Hot List feature), Donatella Versace says, “I spend, spend, spend on creams because they make me feel spoiled and pampered.” Her favorite is La Prairie’s Cellular Radiance Concentrate Pure Gold – a 1 ounce bottle retails for $525. She’s pictured in her ginormous bathroom, standing in her circular jacuzzi/tub surrounded by bottles of lotions, potions, candles and creams.

On a recent vacation to St. Maarten, The Beauty Bug, The Beauty Bug Boyfriend, and The Queen Bee were taking a leisurely morning stroll down their private beach. The beach, lined with multi-million dollar homes, was mostly empty with the exception of a few European sunbathers. During their walk, The Beauty Bug and Her family stumbled upon one such European family; an older woman with distinctive features, a very unnatural, orangey complexion and a leathery texture to her skin, her terrifyingly skinny daughter, and 2 Speedo-wearing men. Once The Beauty Bug and her crew set eyes on the older women – they each exchanged sharp, surprised glances. It couldn’t be….. it wasn’t…..not in a million years. Completely convinced that it wasn’t her, The Beauty Bug started reciting lines from the popular Saturday Night Live skit where Maya Rudolph plays Donetella. “Get Oooouuuuuuut!” “I love you like you come from here!” The Beauty Bug, The Beauty Bug Boyfriend, and The Queen Bee all enjoyed a good laugh and continued down the beach.

As the week went on, The Beauty Bug observed what looked like to be a daily routine for the look-a-like and her family. Each day during the early afternoon, they would leave their $50,000/week beach compound and take a dinghy to a 75 foot yacht. There, they would sunbathe and cruise to the surrounding islands.

As vacations always are, this one was over in the blink of an eye and the beach encounter became one of many stories that The Beauty Bug would share. It wasn’t until about a month later that the story would get even more interesting. The Beauty Queen was watching VH1′s The Fabulous Life of the World’s Hottest Heiresses, and spotted Allegra, Donatella’s daughter and the heir to the Versace fortune. It was also revealed that Allegra has been battling anorexia for several years. Without a doubt, that was Allegra and her mother on that on that beach.

The lesson to learned here? La Prairie’s Cellular Radiance Concentrate Pure Gold isn’t worth the money. Trust the Beauty Bug when She says this. She’s seen the results up-close and personal on a beach. It’s not worth the splurge.

  1. Alarming Darling

Donatella’s always been a big “getting some sun is okay for you” person too. I bet that doesn’t help.

Her daughter has a cute face, or would if she weren’t too skinny. :( How sad.
