NARS Orgasm Lipgloss: Not So Exciting
With the winds nearly at gale force these past couple days in Boston, wearing lip gloss has been a challenge.
These past 2 days by the time She got to work, The Beauty Bug had Orgasm coated hair. Gross. Double Ick. Think Something About Mary…
But on to the more important part - The Beauty Bug is not a fan of the coveted NARS Orgasm gloss. She just doesn’t understand what all the hype is about. Why you ask? The Beauty Bug has prepared a tidy bulleted list…
Consistency and texture
- Very thick, sticky, and a bit tacky in texture
- Dry - This surprised The Beauty Bug because one of Her favorite glosses is NARS Rose Birman gloss, which is neither dry nor thick.
Color
- Strong orange undertones that in some lighting overshadows the pink/peach
- Very iridescent and opalescent - The Beauty Bug almost felt like she was channeling the 80’s or Her grandmother in Boca (or Magda from Something About Mary) when She had it on…
Finish
- Little to no shine
So, in short, The Beauty Bug’s world wasn’t turned upside down by this product. Don’t believe what you hear - this isn’t one of those universal colors that looks good on everyone. Then again, this isn’t the first time The Beauty Bug hasn’t shared popular opinion, and She knows that it won’t be the last.
Despite the number of awards and recognition that this product has received, The Beauty Bug will reluctantly add this to Her list of over-hyped products, and it will be in good company alongside Maybelline’s Great Lash.
What are your thoughts on this love-it or hate-it gloss?

Wow thanks for that helpful review! I am a lipgloss junkie and my friend wants to get me a lip gloss for my b-day and I told her I couldn’t decide between NARS Orgasm and Dior Addict ultra shine in Jersey Pink. She said the Dior but I was still torn. Reading this has helped me decide!

Sara, I’m really glad you wrote about this. I was THISCLOSE to ordering Orgasm online(we don’t carry Nars here anymore… at least I can’t find it :() I have only been able to see some swatches of the Orgasm color and it looked really beautiful though… So I’m really undecided now!
What is your opinion on Orgasm blush? I was thinking of ordering that as well.

Beauty Fool - The Beauty Bug has never tried the blush - sorry! There are people who hate the gloss and love the blush and vice versa, but it just seems to be one of those products that you either love it or hate it.
The Beauty Bug has heard/read that the blush is a big light, and possibly has to be layered, but hopefully someone else can comment on that.

First: I love the Orgasm BLUSH!!! But something got lost in translation to lip gloss. I agree with BB’s bulleted list - especially about the rather obnoxious gold shimmer.

I am glad i am not the only who is not feeling that lipgloss! I actually like the blush but i had to give it away because it was barely showing on my skin but the gloss???
when i read on Latina Mag that I should run to buy it, i rushed to Sephora and when i applied it on, big disappointment!!

I’m sorry to be so different from everyone else, but I love both Nars’ Orgasm blush and lip gloss. I have very fair skin and red hair and the color is perfect on me. In fact, I have to be careful or the blush is too much. Any one else like me?

You’re so right! Too orange. And way overrated. But the Blush, at least, is pretty.
