I would consider giving this exfoliator a try. It’s got a lot of good stuff in it, including Vitamin e. V.E. has proven over and over again how beneficial it is for the skin.

Have you tried Estee Lauder’s Idealist Micro D Deep Thermal Refinisher? It won Allure Magazine’s 2006 Best of Beauty Award. It’s probably more gentle, but you get the same results. You can apply it either to wet ordry skin. It really gets warm, though and sometimes it’s too warm for my sensitive skin, but my skin has never looked better. It’s $46 for a 2.5 oz tube.
