Recently, The Beauty Bug visited Boston’s Best Makeup Artist, Dani Wagener, at the Shu Uemura boutique to learn more about the collection. At the crux of it are three eye shadow palettes, each of which contain 7 shadows and a cream eye shadow-liner. Each palette is beautifully decorated with a floral scene (midnight winter sakura, adorned marguerite, and secret lusious rose) shot by Mika.

Using the Secret Luscious Rose palette (middle palette pictured on the right) Dani created a soft shimmery, golden holiday eye on The Beauty Bug that caught the light beautifully.

To create this festive look, Dani applied the white/gold color (second from the left) all over the lid, and then applied wide strokes of the golden brown color (far left color) in the crease. She then applied a thin line of the bronze cream liner on the top of The Beauty Bug’s lid. The combination blended perfectly yet still showed the gradations of color, and despite the photos, was beautifully smooth, shimmery and made The Beauty Bug’s eyes sparkle.

Other items in the collection include limited edition Rouge Unlimited lipsticks in Petal Beige, Petal Orange Beige, and Petal Pink Beige, Tanzanite Aquarium nail enamel, Sparkling Garnet Aquarium Nail Enamel, and several special holiday sets and eyelashes.

When The Beauty Bug visited Her local MAC store and spoke to the makeup artist about the quad, the artist was most excited about Nanogold, a discontinued iridescent sheer yellow pink frost that applies with a gorgeous sheen. It can be used both as an all-over lid color and a highlighter on the brow bone. Other colors in the quad include Brash, a frosty reddish copper; Spiced Chocolate, a dirty deep reddish brown matte; and Sweet Chestnut, a rich cranberry frost.  Part of the Cult of Cherry Collection, the quad is very glamodrama, yet still very everyday. See The Beauty Bug’s photos below for an easy fall eye. Apply Beige-ing shadestick all over the lid, followed by Nanogold. Work Sweet Chestnut and Brash into the lid and blend. Apply while burning an Autumn Leaves Yankee Candle.

Dani chose the Fleur De Rose palette and got to work on The Beauty Bug’s eyes. This is the most natural, yet sophisticated palette from the collection. The creamy shadows are a blender’s dream! She first applied the dark brown shadow up to the crease, followed by the lightest (almost white color) on the brow bone as a highlighter. Next, Dani used the new limited edition shimmer liquid eyeliner under The Beauty Bug’s lash line. A bit about this product; simply put – it’s amazing! It’s so smooth and sheen. Dani worked out the thick formula on her hand before applying, and it glided on beautifully.

Back to the eyeshadow, Dani chose the shimmery purple/gray color applied it to the crease, expanding a bit across the lid, and blended it out. For all those hazel-eyed ladies, this will bring out the green in your eyes. With this, she created the perfect summer smoky eye – not too heavy, but still very alluring with a lot of depth and color. Lastly, she applied the golden color on the brow bone, and brought it down a bit into the crease to polish the eye.

While the photos below don’t even come close to capturing the intense color, you get an idea of Dani’s look.

Moving on to the face, Dani used one of The Beauty Bug’s favorite products for the summer, the UV Under Base SPF 10. It’s a lightweight mousse primer that keeps skin and pores nice and smooth, and provides and instant cooling effect when applied. Next was the Face Architect Foundation – another lightweight product that’s great for the summer. After a touch of bronzing powder (in light of course), and the Rouge Unlimited Gloss Shine (which The Beauty Bug already gushed over) in 755, She was ready for Her close-up. Before leaving the boutique, Dani even gave Her a preview on Shu’s fall collection which is jaw-droppingly stunning.

The Beauty Bug took some time during Her lunch break to go check out these new collections. She arrived at the store just in time – they had just finished unpacking them. She was quickly drawn to the Royal Assets Collection, eye and lip palettes cased in charming, detailed, antique-inspired ceramic embossed compacts. Offered in several different color palettes, the Collection is a must-have this holiday season.

For eyes, The Beauty Bug’s pick is the metallic palette. It’s a refreshing change from the normal smoky palette, and offers both warm daytime tones and cool nighttime tones. The frosted warm colors will brighten any eye, and the frosted cool colors will create a perfect dramatic eye.

To compliment the eye, The Beauty Bug recommends the Tan Lip palette which includes 2 lipsticks and one lipglass. Picture whipping out the sleek little gold case to touch-up your gloss and getting stares from interested (jealous) onlookers. It’s a perfect match to the metallic palette, and will go with any eye shadow combination.

I tested a bit on my hand and it’s amazing – it goes on as a gel and then after rubbing it, turns into a foam. Need it!
• According to the 2 skin consultants that I spoke with – the best hydrating mask is the Intense Hydra Mask by MD Skincare. It comes with a brush and a mixing bowl and you prepare the mask yourself – that’s part of the fun!

Do your Holiday and New Year’s Eve up big this year with the new Crystal Eve Holiday Collection by Lancome. Included in the collection are the Diamond Soiree and the Embellished Eye Palettes as well as well as a new shade of Juicy Gelee in Crown Jewel and false eyelashes. I wish I knew how to put these on!

Exuviance Rejuvenating Treatment Masque – Haven’t heardof this brand before, but they are reasonably priced so I’m willing to give them a try – especially because it was previously only available through a doctor.

LORAC Croc Palette – This is exclusively available at Sephora, and I know I probably have these colors 3 times over, but I was in Sephora and was so tempted to buy it. The colors are so rich, creamy and vibrant.

NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Forbidden Red Again, while in Sephora this weekend, in honor or “Complexion Day”, everyone was wearing red lip stick – the whole red lipstick classic and simple look. One of the sales girls was wearing NARS Forbidden Red with Sephora #45 lip pencil. Perfect for us girls with lighter, fair skin!
